An L Match, also called a "Police L Match" is a 25 yard, 90 shot course, fired on a target with a much larger 10 ring than is usually found on a 25 yard target.  Don Plante has worked with National Target to produce these targets.  National Target calls these the "B-22 25 Yard Army L Target."

There are a few differences on the timings of the strings.

  • Slow Fire is 10 shots in 5 minutes.
  • Timed Fire is 5 shots, 2 strings, each string in 15 seconds.
  • Rapid Fire is 5 shots, 2 strings, each string in 12 seconds. [ed. check these times]

There are NO ALIBIS!  If you have a problem, clear it and keep shooting, or you loose points.

Two handed holds are ALLOWED.

Since the 10 ring is so large, perfect scores are sometimes posted.  Many times, scores are lost on X count.

This is a fun match to introduce shooters from other disciplines to the format of Bullseye Pistol.  Bullseye shooters used to alibis can also find this a challenge!
